Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez, a Mexican-American singer and actress is very famous. Her mother raised her in the USA and she was subject to numerous racial slurs that caused her to feel as an unwanted person. As she entered the 9th grade she began to feel more comfortable after she was applauded by her teachers when she sang at the school's audition. The experience not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed her goals in life. At 22 she was a graduate of New York's Julliard School. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. Her greatest break came in her role as The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway version of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great reviews for her performance. The following year, she joined the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider recognition for it. As a professional singer, she's also produced one single and an extended piece. In addition, she has been an advocate for LGBT concerns.
